Drains plumbers clear
- Kitchen sinks clogged with grease and food.
- Bathroom sinks, tubs and showers slowed by hair and soap.
- Floor drains and laundry drains.
- Main drain lines, when several fixtures back up at once.
Signs it's more than one clog
If more than one fixture is slow, the toilet gurgles when the sink drains, or water comes up in the tub when you run the washer, the blockage is probably in the main line. That needs a plumber with a drain machine or water jetting, and often a camera inspection.
Before the plumber arrives
- Stop using the affected drains.
- Don't pour chemical drain openers down a fully blocked drain; they can harm pipes and the plumber.
- Note which fixtures are slow and when it started.

FAQ
Drain Cleaning: common questions
Should I use chemical drain cleaner?
Plumbers generally advise against it for a full blockage. If you've already used one, tell the plumber before they start.
What is hydro jetting?
High-pressure water that scours the inside of drain lines. It's used for grease, scale and roots in main lines.
